Here's the skinny: I've been near 300 lbs. for years and need to lose weight. I'm married to a wonderful lady, and we have a family. One of our boys often asks if I'll run with him. I've always had to tell him, "No." In August of '09, my wife learned about a couch-to-5k running program, and I agreed to try it with her. This blog chronicles our progress on that training program. I hope I'll soon be able to surprise my son by telling him, "Yes, I'll go running with you!"

  1. Way to go, Andrew! Can I call you that now? :-)
We are very proud of you. This was a huge undertaking. I look forward to seeing how your family will be able to run together.

I love seeing all the friends and family on the sidelines as you run by: Josiah running toward you, then we see Arianna, then we see more family and friend, Marie all cheering you on!

If you can make time to do this as a father of 10, holding down a full-time job, taking grad classes, and carrying an extra 100lbs, I would say that pretty much eliminates a lot of the excuses most folks use to keep from working out.
