Here's the skinny: I've been near 300 lbs. for years and need to lose weight. I'm married to a wonderful lady, and we have a family. One of our boys often asks if I'll run with him. I've always had to tell him, "No." In August of '09, my wife learned about a couch-to-5k running program, and I agreed to try it with her. This blog chronicles our progress on that training program. I hope I'll soon be able to surprise my son by telling him, "Yes, I'll go running with you!"

I was really bummed, but I'll take a half pound. We had birthday cake around the house and I think last Saturday was the biscuits and gravy day, so overall, it could have been worse.

Right on target -- I cant wait to hit the 10 lbs gone though~! Im planning on continueing to eat the way I have been. Ive made the switch from drinking mostly diet sodas to drinking water. The diet soda now is more of a treat -- woot!

  1. That is awesome. I know it's the diet that can be that hardest part of a healthy lifestyle change. Keep up the good work.

  2. Thanks! With only losing a pound a week, sometimes it feels slow.I try to remind myself though that slow and steady wins the race!

  3. Congratulations on weight loss and finishing the program! I concentrated this week on losing one pound by maintaining calories, and I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale this morning: I lost 2 lbs! I really stopped some of my bad habbits this week by counting calories (slabbing peanut butter on anything and eating kids' leftovers). I just want to reach my prepregnancy weight, and I have about 23 more pounds to go.

P.S. Does Mr. F have red hair? (going by the picture he originally designed for the blog)

  4. Mare -- Way to go on dropping the two pounds! Its pretty eye opening to track calories. I know its hard to estimate some home cooked meals but I feel like im getting a okay count, even if its off by a few hundred at times. It hasnt been as hard to stay under as I thought it would be but some days have been more challenging than others for sure!~

Nope Mr. F doesnt have red hair -- i think the avatar was supposed to look like brown hair. When we reveal, we likely will post some pics -- so stay tuned!

I was trying to show brown hair with a bit of that "salt-and-pepper" showing through. lol
