Here's the skinny: I've been near 300 lbs. for years and need to lose weight. I'm married to a wonderful lady, and we have a family. One of our boys often asks if I'll run with him. I've always had to tell him, "No." In August of '09, my wife learned about a couch-to-5k running program, and I agreed to try it with her. This blog chronicles our progress on that training program. I hope I'll soon be able to surprise my son by telling him, "Yes, I'll go running with you!"

You reap what you sow

Sow nothing, reap nothing. Actually, this week it's more like "sow nothing, reap 1.6 lbs.  Yes.  I'm up 1.6 lbs. this week, putting me at 263 lbs..

[I typically am able to void on the morning of a weigh in, but was not able to do so this morning.]

After hiking and backpacking last weekend, I did almost nothing this week.  I jumped back into 100 Pushups, but only got one workout in prior to this morning.  This morning, I got in 100PU-W4D3 (with a total of 162 reps!, bringing my total number of 100PU workouts to two for the past seven days), and I also got in eight laps here at the office, plus an additional 12 flights of stairs.  I've spent most of this past week's evenings at home sitting, playing games, working on computers, or resting (I've had a couple of whopper headaches).  Of course, the general availability of jelly beans and other Easter candies over the weekend wasn't helpful, and neither was my devil-may-care attitude regarding that baked ham, but what's happened has happened.

I'm just starting to wonder if I'll ever be happy with who I am in the moment.  My self worth often seems so tied to how well I am doing in one endeavor or another.  That is something that will take much pondering...
